Slopの見分け方

Slopという言葉は知りませんか？元々は、「ゴミ」とか「豚の餌」といった意味合いを持っていたのですが、今ではむしろ質の低いネットコンテンツを指すことが多くなりました。 AIの台頭につれ、AI slop（AIを使って適当に作られたもの）という言葉をよく耳にするようになりましたが、slopの現象はそれ以前から存在しています。再生やインプレッションを稼ぐ目的で大量生産的に作られた動画や記事は全部slopと言います。 私はネット動画漬けで、ユーチューブを見ない日はほぼありません。ただ、それはただの娯楽だけではなく、一応勉強のために見ているものもあります。いずれにしても、日々日々強くなって襲ってくるslopの波に大変悩まされています。（笑） 一番分かりやすいのがやはりAI slopです。映像を見なくても、いわゆる「ChatGPT構文」的な言い回しはすぐ分かります。極めて不快です。 AIを使って良い動画をもっと効率よく作る方法はいくらでもあるはずなのに、手抜きコンテンツ製造機として使っている人が多いのが現実です。😢 でもslop動画はそれ以外にもたくさんあります。サムネやタイトルでバレることが多いです。  Slop的なタイトルはよく視聴者の関心を惹こうとする大げさで曖昧な言葉を使います。I can't believe this（信じられない）とか、This shook me to the core（「これ」を聞いた時、心から動揺した）とか、一見して面白そうに見えますが、実際に見てみると内容がスカスカでありふれたことしか話していません。（笑） ユーチューバーがこのような曖昧すぎるタイトルを使うのはだいたいネタ切れになった時で、仕事だから仕方なく動画を作っている人の常套手段です。本当に面白い内容だったのであれば、それをタイトルに書くはずですから… Slopサムネールでは動画の作り手が、😱、😤、😂、😭など、非常に大げさな顔を全面に出しています。 ただこの手の動画はslopばかりではなく、意外と玉石混交だと思います。 なぜなら、サムネでバカみたいな大げさな表情をしないとアルゴリズムがなかなか拾ってくれないという実情があるからです。😅 だからたまに面白いユーチューバーでもこれを意識してか、あえてslop的なサムネを使っているようです。 ではどうやってゴミコンテンツをかき分けて、面白いものを見つけられたら良いのでしょうか。 完璧な方法ではないのですが、私は以下のようなことを意識しています。 ①動画のトピックをもったいぶることなく、ちゃんとタイトルで書いているか ②サムネのデザインが新鮮で作り手のこだわりが感じられるか（AI作成のものはほぼほぼslop） ③表現が大げさすぎないか あと何よりも大事なのは、slopではないかと疑った動画にクリックしないことだと思います。一度そのような動画を見てしまうとまるで堰を切ったように、おすすめ欄がゴミコンテンツに溢れてしまいます。汗 今日はどちらかと言えば英語圏のものについて書いていますが、日本語の動画にも当てはまる部分も少なくないはずです。 皆さんは良質な動画をどのように見つけていますか？

That said, it’s not just for entertainment; some of what I watch is at least supposedly for studying. Either way, I’m constantly struggling against the ever-stronger waves of slop crashing in on me every day. (lol) The easiest example to spot is AI slop. Even without watching the video, you can immediately recognize that so-called “ChatGPT-style” phrasing. It’s extremely unpleasant. There should be plenty of ways to use AI to make good videos more efficiently, yet the reality is that many people use it as a lazy content-generation machine. 😢 But there’s plenty of slop beyond just AI slop. You can often tell from the thumbnail or the title. Slop-style titles tend to use exaggerated and vague language to grab viewers’ attention. Things like “I can’t believe this” or “This shook me to the core.” At first glance they seem interesting, but when you actually watch them, the content is thin and only says obvious, commonplace things. (lol) When YouTubers use titles that are overly vague like this, it’s usually because they’ve run out of ideas and are making videos just because it’s their job. If the content were truly interesting, they would put that in the title. In slop thumbnails, the creator often puts an extremely exaggerated facial expression front and center—😱, 😤, 😂, 😭, and so on. That said, not all videos like this are slop; it’s more of a mixed bag. The reality is that unless you make a ridiculous, over-the-top face in the thumbnail, the algorithm won’t easily pick up your video. 😅 So even genuinely interesting YouTubers sometimes seem to lean into slop-style thumbnails on purpose. So how can we sift through the garbage and find something actually interesting? It’s not a perfect method, but I try to keep the following in mind: Does the title clearly state the topic instead of being coy about it? Does the thumbnail design feel fresh and show the creator’s care and personality? (AI-generated ones are almost always slop.) Is the language overly exaggerated? Most importantly, I think you shouldn’t click on a video if you suspect it’s slop. Once you watch one, it’s like a dam breaks and your recommendations get flooded with garbage content. 😅 Today I mostly wrote about English-language content, but I’m sure a lot of this applies to Japanese content too.
