(English by ChatGPT)
Not only here in the Tohoku region of Japan, where I live, but in many regions and countries, populations are declining or are expected to decline in the near future.
Since no clear solution has yet been found, I sometimes feel that maybe a steadily shrinking population is simply unavoidable.
From a quality-of-life perspective, it’s not exactly an uplifting topic. But in the midst of that, I’d like to think there might be some positive aspects too. (Tears.)
Where could those be…?
The only one that comes to mind for me is the global environment.
Recently, I’ve been really into videos and books about Earth’s history. When I watch and read them, I’m reminded of just how enormous the impact humans have had on ecosystems—how, in a sense, we’ve made this planet a more difficult place to live. 😞
Of course, I don’t wish for humans to disappear, nor do I want to return to a hunter-gatherer lifestyle (haha). But if the population were to decline naturally, and we were able to find a way of living that’s more in harmony with the environment than before, wouldn’t that be a good thing? What do you think? 😆
