LLMの驚異的な進歩

昨日の投稿の英訳はあえて全部ChatGPTに任せちゃいました。 ChatGPTの訳はすごく自然で、完成度の高い文章でびっくりしました。エムダッシュ（—）の多用とか、ChatGPTならではの特徴は少し残るものの、人間が書いた文と比べても全然遜色ないと思います。 DeepLなんてもう、周回遅れです。 また、ChatGPTを始めとするLLM（大規模言語モデル）は文章の添削、外国語に関する質問に答えてもらうためにも十分使えます。 しかも文法や単語への説明の正確性、明確性は普通のネイティブスピーカーのを優に超えるものです。 確かにChatGPTには本物の「知能」がなく、平気で嘘のこと、矛盾することを書きます。とはいえ、人間の言うことは全て本当で、一貫しているかというとそうではないですよね。 （LLMは人間と違って責任を取ることができない、という違いはありますが…） では、文章をLLMに見せて添削してもらったら十分なのになぜNyan-8を使い続けるか、と疑問に思う人もいるかもしれません。 実は私がNyan-8を始めたのは自己表現をしたい、人とつながりたいことが理由です。 添削をいただくのもとても勉強になるし、ありがたいことです。しかし「自分の思いを表現している、人とつながっている」という実感がなければ、Lang-8とNyan-8はとっくにやめていたと思います。 （余談ですが、Hi-Nativeをあまり使わないのはユーザー同士のつながりが薄いからです） 自己表現するのも人とつながるのも、いずれもLLMではできないことだと思います。 だからこそ、このサイトを使う意味があるのだと思います。 今後ともよろしくお願いします。

（今日もChatGPTの英訳です）笑 I deliberately left the English translation of yesterday's post entirely up to ChatGPT. I was amazed at how natural and polished the translation was. While it still had some of ChatGPT’s unique quirks—like the frequent use of em dashes (—)—it was by no means inferior to something written by a human. DeepL is honestly falling behind at this point. Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT are also extremely useful for proofreading and asking questions about foreign languages. In fact, their accuracy and clarity when explaining grammar and vocabulary often surpass that of the average native speaker. Of course, ChatGPT doesn't possess real "intelligence" and can sometimes produce false or contradictory information without hesitation. That said, humans don’t always speak the truth or stay consistent either, right? (One key difference, though, is that LLMs—unlike humans—can’t be held accountable.) So then, some might wonder: if having an LLM proofread your writing is good enough, why do I still use Nyan-8? The truth is, I started using Nyan-8 because I wanted to express myself and connect with others. Getting feedback on my writing is incredibly helpful and something I really appreciate. But if I didn’t feel like I was truly expressing myself and connecting with people, I probably would’ve quit Lang-8 and Nyan-8 a long time ago. (As a side note, the reason I don’t use HiNative much is because the sense of connection between users feels weaker.) I believe self-expression and human connection are both things that LLMs simply can't offer. That’s exactly why this site still holds value for me. Thank you for your continued support!
