There isn't really a conclusion to today's post, just making it up as I go along.
Today I watched one of my favorite online programs, Abema Prime once again.
This time the theme was decarbonization and global warming, and I think there was a pretty interesting discussion among the commentators.
More interestingly, what thought after watching the video was the exact opposite of what was written in the comments section on youtube.
Rather, I have to admit that I felt sad that no one shared my thoughts.
The main commentators this time were a meteorologist and a right-wing writer who is a global warming denier.
Perhaps it was my bias, but I thought the meteorologist made a lot of sense and did a good job of explaining the fact that humans are contributing to climate change and the significance of decarbonization efforts.
I also sensed sincerity in the scholar's stance, where he properly acknowledged when the other person was correct even when they are deny the reality of man-made climate change.
On the other hand, the writer seemed to change the topic quickly and slyly, as if ignoring (or quietly admitting defeat) when he was rebutted.
Overall, the scholar seemed to have answered the arguments from the deniers and skeptics one by one in an easy-to-understand manner, and I strongly agreed with his points on the significance of climate change measures, even if we had some differences in our views.
However, there were zero people in the comment section who felt the same way I did haha
Well, what can I say, it happens...
Was it called the Rorschach test? People see the same ink stain as many different things.
This kind of topic, just like an ink stain, may be seen in a completely different way depending on one's values and personality.
On the other hand, in today's world, it has become difficult to distinguish between facts and lies, and I think that the information gap has become very severe, even before we talk about values.
For example, do those who are concerned about special interests in “environmental protection” know how much interest is tied up in environmental destruction?
Well, I am not qualified to lecture people because I don't know much either...
The older I get, the more I feel that the world is becoming more and more uncertain, and the less I can see the truth.
