Nascandino is a kind of hide-and-seek game played as a sport. Nascondino World Championships were held from 2010 through 2017 in Italy. The winning team was awarded "The Golden Fig Leaf", which is biblically the symbol of hiding, referring to the story of Adam and Eve. Most of you may have had the experience of playing hide-and-seek when you were a child. The rule has many variations, but it is typically played as follows. The game is played by one seeker and multiple hiders. While the seeker counts to ten, the finders hide. The seeker must return to "home base" after finding the hiders, before the hiders get back. Conversely, the hiders must get back to "home base" before the seeker sees them and returns. The Nascondino World Championship’s rule is a little bit different. It is played by one seeker(organizer) and 20 finders (representatives of each country). The game started with 20 hiders hiding. After one minute, the seeker appears and starts to find the hiders. Hiders can get one point if they can touch the base, which is put at the center of the playground, before the finder finds them. If the finder calls the bib’s color and touches the base, the hider is out. According to a website, the player population is 7.8 billion, compared to the population of tennis players,106 million; the number is absolutely greater than in every other sport. However, you can say Nascondino is a rare sport. On May 16, the Nascondino World Championship was held at OSAKA・KANSAI EXPO 2025.
