What should I do?

I want to read more books, but I don't have enough time. What should I do? This is my honest confession about my English reading ability. I read English novels every evening before bed. Currently, I’m reading Slow Learner by Thomas Pynchon. After reading the short story "The Small Rain" in this book, I thought it was nice, but I didn't understand it well enough because my English skills aren't good enough for fluent reading. So, I started reading it again and wrote my translation in my notebook, sentence by sentence. It took a lot of time, but it helped me understand the content very well. I'm torn between reading the book without looking anything up on the Internet and reading it by writing the translation sentence by sentence. That is my recent question.
