Today‘s Diary

Today‘s Diary Yesterday at midday, the arcade was so crowded for the Tanabata decoration that I went there in the early morning today. After watching the decorations, we, my wife and I, went to a Soba restaurant for our brunch. We hadn’t made a reservation for it; we had to wait for more than half an hour. When I was sitting on the bench waiting, a man next to me was drawing a picture on his tablet. Looking at it, I asked him, “Can you draw and erase your drawing at the same time with that touch-pen?  I have seen how to draw the picture actually on the tablet for the first time.” The icebreaker drove us to a friendly conversation. He was a creator of animation and visited Sendai to watch Tanabata. We finished brunch earlier than him and went out of the restaurant. We had bought a little present and returned there. However, he had already left there. Luckily, we could see him again a little farther out of the restaurant, and we could give it to him. You may think my behavior was strange. Thinking, “Why did you give him a present？ He is the man who happened to meet and had small conversations with. “ I was given small presents by strangers who just talked on the airplane, or just gave small talks on the street, many times. I felt happy when I received the presents, so I thought I should have done the same thing at those times.

昨日のお昼頃、七夕飾りでアーケードが大混雑していたので、今日は早朝から行ってきました。 飾りを見た後、ブランチを食べに蕎麦屋に行きました。 予約していなかったので、30分以上待ちました。 ベンチで待っていると、隣の男性がタブレットで絵を描いていました。 それを見て、「そのタッチペン、描いて消すの同時にできるんですか？タブレットで実際に絵を描くのを初めて見ました」と尋ねました。 それがきっかけで、私たちは和やかな会話に発展しました。 彼はアニメクリエイターで、七夕を見るために仙台に来ていました。 私たちは彼より先にブランチを終え、店を出ました。 ちょっとしたプレゼントを買って店に戻りましたが、彼はすでに店を出た後でした。 幸運なことに、店の少し先で彼と再会し、プレゼントを渡しました。 私の行動は奇妙だと思われるかもしれません。 「なぜ彼にプレゼントをあげたの？ たまたま会って、ちょっとした会話をしただけの人なのに。」 飛行機の中で話しただけ、あるいは街中でちょっと話をしただけの見知らぬ人から、ちょっとしたプレゼントをもらったことが何度もありました。 プレゼントをもらった時は嬉しかったので、私も同じようにすればよかったと思いました。
