How lonely this villa has become, overgrown with goose grass weeds. No one visits me - only autumn comes. Translated by Peter MacMillan To the lonely house where the weeds, eight layers deep, have grown rank, not a soul can be seen — but autumn, at least, has come.                                                                     Translated by Joshua S. Mostow To the humble cot, Overgrown with thick-leaved vines In its loneliness, comes the dreary autumn time; --  And not even man is there.                                                                          Translated by Clay MacCauley How lonely this house overgrown with goosegrass weeds. No one visits me — only the weary autumn comes.                                     Another translation by Peter MacMillan This poem was written when Egyo visited the abandoned residence of Minamoto no Tōru (poem14) about a hundred years later. 人こそ見えね means that Minamoto no Tōru isn't there anymore. Egyō (sometimes read Ekei)dates unknown, but probably second half of the tenth century) was a Japanese waka poet of the mid-Heian period.
