Tanabata 七夕

Tanabata, or the Star Festival takes place on the 7th of July. 七夕は、７月７日に催される We write our wishes on strips of paper and hung them on bamboo branches. 紙に願い事を書いて、竹の枝につける。 It is quite refreshing to see the bamboos with colorful strips swaying in the wind. 色とりどりの紙がついた竹が風にゆれるのを見るのは清々しい。 Here is a story of Tanabata. 七夕の物語はこうだ。 Once upon a time, a woman who was good at weaving and a male cowherd fell in love, but after marriage, they didn't work hard, so the woman's father, who is the God of Heaven got mad. 昔々、織物の上手な女性と牛飼いの男性が恋に落ちた。しかし結婚後、彼らは働かなくなり、女性の父親である天の神が怒った。 He made them live in different places across the Milky Way. 彼は２人を離して、別々の所へ住まわせた。天の川を挟んだ別々の場所に住まわせた。 They were allowed to meet each other only on the 7the of July. 彼らは７月の７日だけ会うことが許された。 When the day is cloudy, we can't see the Milky Way in the sky, so we feel sorry for them because they can't cross the river. その日が曇りだと、天の川が見えない。なので、彼らが川を渡ることができないからかわいそうだ。
