五日前に、ギリシャ独立戦争の記念日でした。この日は、独立戦争の始まりを記念して、軍隊、消防隊、および学校がギリシャ各地で行進しています。赤十字の地方支局のある町では、赤十字も行進に参加することがあります。同日は受胎告知というキリスト教の祝日なので、ギリシャでは二重の祝日だとも言えます。 三月二十五日にも、当日を挟んだ数日間も、独立戦争についてのドキュメンタリー、映画、そして独立戦争をテーマとする音楽についての番組がテレビで放映されるものです。独立戦争をテーマとする曲はいくつかありますが、大好きなのは「Να'τανε το '21」(意訳:「一八二一年に戻れたら」)です。作曲者はスタブロス・クユムジス(Σταύρος Κουγιουμτζής)で、演奏者ははるかに有名なヨルゴス・ダラーラス(Γιώργος Νταλάρας)です。 この曲は、過去を美化している現代人の目を通じてギリシャ独立戦争を語っています。過去の偉人と栄光に夢中な普通人の思いを伝えているから、ある程度年を取れば取るほど同感してくる曲です。今回、友人のお勧めで、歌詞の日本語訳を七五調にしてみようと思いました。 ＝ 一八二一年に戻れたら ＝ 栄光の年、つぎつぎ浮かぶ 二一年のころ、一瞬戻れたら 果てしない草原　騎乗したら コロコトローニス*　とワイン飲んで 日が暮れるまで  城で戦い 俺の剣に  火がついて 星空の夜に  美人を抱き 栄光の年、 つぎつぎ浮かぶ 二一年のころ、 一瞬戻れたら モリャス**の山道で、踊り出し マニーとプサラー***の　勇者後につく 花園の下、最期を遂げたら スミレ、手、空を、俺に浴びせて 日が暮れるまで  城で戦い 俺の剣に  火がついて 星空の夜に  美人を抱き 栄光の年、 つぎつぎ浮かぶ 二一年のころ、 一瞬戻れたら ＝原曲= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsW1o0uxbiI *テオドロス・コロコトロニスは、独立戦争で大将を努めて、解放後のギリシャの政治に参加した要人でした。主にペロポネソス半島で果たした役割と偉業のため、「Γέρος του Μοριά」(モリャスの老人)というあだ名がつけました。 **モリャス(Μοριάς)は、ペロポネソス半島の旧名です。ビザンチン帝国の時代から十九世紀まで使われていたそうだけど、他のギリシャの色々な地名とともに解放の後で古代の名前に戻ってきました。現代で使われると、「モリャス」はよく独立戦争の時代を連想させています。 ***マニー(Μάνη)とプサラー(Ψαρά)は、二つとも独立戦争の重要な戦いが行われた場所です。

Five days ago, on March 25th, there was the anniversary of the Greek War of Independence. On this day, as a commemoration to the beginning of the war for independence, there are parades of the army corps, fire brigade, as well as schools all over Greece. In cities where there are branch offices of the Red Cross, the Red Cross also takes part in the parade. Because the Feast of the Annunciation according to Christian tradition falls on exactly the same day, it's a kind of double national holiday in Greece. Both on the 25th of March as well as in the days surrounding it, various documentaries about the independence war, movies, as well as programmes about music inspired from the independence war air on TV. There are several songs about the independence war, but my favourite one is "Να'τανε το '21" (="Wish it was '21"). The composer is Stavros Kouyioumtzis, and the performer is Yiorgos Ntalaras, who is even more famous. The song narrates the war for independence through the eyes of an everyday person of our times who romanticizes the past. It's a song I get to relate to more and more as the years go by, because it expresses the thoughts of the average person who is still amazed with the great figures and the glory of the past. This time, on a friend's advice, I attempted to put the Japanese translation lyrics into stanzas of five and seven syllables. Because of his role and his feats especially in Peloponnesus, he earned the nickname "The Old Man of Morias". ** Morias is the old name for the peninsula of Peloponnesus. The name was used from the days of the Byzantine Empire up to the 19th century, but after the liberation of Greece, it was reverted back to its ancient name, along with many other placenames. Nowadays, the name "Morias" is mostly used in the context of the Greek War of Independence. *** Mani and Psara are both places where important battles of the war of independence were fought. ---------------- Πριν πέντε μέρες ήταν η επέτειος της Επανάστασης του 1821. Αυτήν την ημέρα, προς τιμήν της επετείου για τον Αγώνα για την Ανεξαρτησία, γίνονται παρελάσεις σε όλη την Ελλάδα από τις Ένοπλες Δυνάμεις, το Πυροσβεστικό Σώμα, αλλά και τα σχολεία. Σε όσες πόλεις υπάρχει παράρτημα του Ερυθρού Σταυρού συμμετέχει και αυτό στην παρέλαση. Ταυτόχρονα η 25η Μαρτίου συμπίπτει και με την θρησκευτική γιορτή του Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου, κι έτσι είναι ένα είδος διπλού εορτασμού στην Ελλάδα. Τόσο την 25η Μαρτίου όσο και τις ημέρες κοντά σε αυτήν, προβάλλονται στην τηλεόραση διάφορα ντοκυμανταίρ σχετικά με την Ελληνική Επανάσταση, ταινίες, αλλά και προγράμματα με μουσική με θέμα την Ελληνική Επανάσταση. Υπάρχουν πολλά τραγούδια εμπνευσμένα από αυτήν, αλλά το αγαπημένο μου είναι το «Να'τανε το '21». Συνθέτης είναι ο Σταύρος Κουγιουμτζής, και ερμηνευτής ο ακόμα πιο διάσημος Γιώργος Νταλάρας. Το τραγούδι μιλάει για τον αγώνα του 1821 μέσα από τη ματιά ενός σύγχρονου ανθρώπου που ρομαντικοποιεί το παρελθόν. Είναι ένα τραγούδι που όσο περνάνε τα χρόνια με αγγίζει όλο και περισσότερο σε ένα βαθμό, επειδή εκφράζει τις σκέψεις του μέσου ανθρώπου που ακόμα συνεπαίρνεται από τις μεγάλες μορφές και τη δόξα του παρελθόντος. Λόγω της δράσης του και των κατορθωμάτων του, κυρίως στην Πελοπόννησο, του δόθηκε το προσωνύμιο «Γέρος του Μοριά». ** «Μοριάς» είναι το παλιό όνομα της χερσονήσου της Πελοποννήσου. Χρησιμοποιούνταν από τις εποχές της Βυζαντινής Αυτοκρατορίας μέχρι και τον 19ο αιώνα, αλλά μετά την απελευθέρωση αντικαταστάθηκε από το αρχαίο όνομα, όπως συνέβη και με πολλά άλλα τοπωνύμια. Τη σήμερον ημέρα η ονομασία  «Μοριάς» χρησιμοποιείται κυρίως στο πλαίσιο της Επανάστασης του '21. *** H Μάνη και τα Ψαρά ήταν μέρη όπου έλαβαν χώρα σημαντικές μάχες της Ελληνικής Επανάστασης.
