A Message from Takashi Yanase's Manga

I have been watching a drama called “Anpan” every morning. It's a drama about the life of Takashi Yanase, the creator of Anpanman comic. There is an Anpanman Museum in his hometown of Kochi Prefecture. I watched a video of Takashi Yanase's life there. The lyrics of the Anpanman song “why was I born and what do I live for” often appear in the drama. This video also showed the personality of the author who loves children and peace. I felt that I should be thankful for freedom and peace.

今あんぱんというドラマを毎朝見ている。漫画アンパンマンの作者やなせたかしさんの生涯を描いたドラマだ。出身地の高知県にはアンパンマンミュージアムがある。そこでやなせたかしさんの生涯のビデオを見た。アンパンマンの曲の歌詞「何のために生まれて何をして生きるのか」の言葉はドラマでよく出てくる。このビデオからも子供たちを、そして平和を愛する作者の人柄が伝わってきた。自由や平和に感謝しないといけないと思った。
