森の花嫁（2） 以下は北欧の民話の一つです。 これから、その民話を手短に伝えたいと思います。皆さんにもご興味をお持ちいただければ幸いです。 ------- 「わかった～じゃあ、ネズミちゃん、君を恋人にしてあげるよ！」と三男は言いました。 この時、ネズミはどんなに遅くなっても彼に忠実であり、ずっと待っていると伝えました。 それ以来、農夫は息子たちの恋人たちにそれぞれワインを作ったり、機織りをしたり、料理の腕を披露したりするように次々に頼みました。 三男はそれによって、とても悲しくなり、落ち込みました。なぜなら、彼自身の恋人がただのネズミだったのだと思ったからでした。 しばらくして、彼が森の小屋の扉を押し開ける時、ネズミは嬉しそうにキーキー鳴いて、大喜びで踊り回りました。 「戻ってきたんだね！会えて本当に嬉しいよ！きっと戻ってくるって分かってたわ！」 「うん、本当に僕に会えて嬉しいのかい、ネズミちゃん？」と三男は尋ねました。 「本当だよ！私は今、あなたの恋人じゃないの？」 今までの経緯を理解できた後、ネズミは自信満々に言い張るのでした。「心配しないで、大丈夫だよ！全部私に任せて！」 そう言うと、ネズミはチリンチリンと鈴を手中に鳴らし始めました。たちまち、何百匹ものネズミが即座に小屋に駆け込み、それらの煩わしい仕事を一夜にしてすべて終わらせました。 (続く) [cb]The Forest Bride (2) The following is one of the Nordic tales.
