Hello! It's been a while since my last entry! Today I'm thinking about accents again. This is a bit of a goofy entry.
Recently, I watched Studio Ghibli's "The Wind Rises". In it, there is a Japanese-speaking foreigner. Since I watched it in its original language (as opposed to in English), I was able to notice this character's accent in Japanese. It's difficult to recall it but his accent was interesting. He was a German man. His accent was loose, and a little suspicious-sounding, but somehow it becomes kind of charming. It seems it's difficult to explain after all. If you all see this movie, you'll probably be able to understand what I'm talking about.
And... I tried playing the new "Uma Musume: Pretty Derby" game. It's a little embarrassing to talk about, haha. But, in this game, there's an American character. Her name is "Taiki Shuttle". She's very much a stereotype but her way of speaking is really interesting! Her Japanese pronunciation is sort of floaty. It makes it seem like she hasn't learned fluent pronunciation yet. I suppose that it's intended to be one of her points of cuteness
Also, the way that she talks about UFOs a lot reminded me of Yo-kai Watch 3. When you all think of America, do you think of UFOs? What an interesting stereotype!
Thank you for reading.
