As I wrote in my previous diary entry, last Sunday, my husband and I went to see a movie. Since we are frugal, we went to a theater about 20 minutes away by bike from our home. We could have taken the train, but it would have cost 360 yen for the two of us, whereas the bike parking fee was 300 yen for both.
Actually, we usually go to the area by bike and park our bike at the parking lot for less than three ours. That's because we can park our bike for free for less than three hours.
Since we saw the movie and had lunch after the movie, we parked our bike more than three hours. That's why we had to pay fee.
Anyway, on the way there, there's a pretty steep hill. Pedaling up it is tiring, and although it wasn't that difficult before, on the day it felt really heavy to pedal. I truly felt that I have gotten older.
When we almost got home, I felt the vibrations of the bike directly through the saddle. Yes, it was the feeling I get when a bike tire has no air in it.
I didn't know the tire had no air. I pumped it up and rode to my friend's house. Pedaling was easy. I chuckled that it wasn't because I had gotten older.
The next day, I realized that the tire was flat again, so I took it to a bike shop. The repairman said that there was a hole on the tube, but also the tire itself was severely damaged. He asked me whether I just wanted to repair the hole or replace the entire tire.
I asked him to replace the entire tire. It was 4,000 yen.
I think the tire got damaged because I rode the bike for 40 minutes with no air in the tire.
I feel like I wasted my money. From now on, I should check that the tires have enough air before riding.
