Which Rice Would You Like to Buy?

The Japanese government has finally released stockpiled rice. Some companies have started selling it.  Stockpiled rice is called by different names depends on the year of production. Rice produced in 2023 is called 古米、in 2022 is called 古古米, and before 2021 is called 古古古米.  As you can guess, older rice is cheaper.  I opened a 10kg-bag or rice about a week ago, so there is no need to rush to buy rice, but I'm wondering which rice I will buy when I need it. I had a bad experience of buying old rice long time ago when my children were still small. I don't remember how much a 10kg bag of rice normally cost at that time, but I found a 10kg bag of rice sold at 1,000 yen at a supermarket. I didn't check when the rice was produced. I bought it because it was cheap. When I cooked it, I realized that it was very dry and tasted terrible. It was very hard to consume all the rice.  Some people are saying the taste of old rice is not so bad, but rice retailers who know rice well believe that is not true.  I don't know which is correct. I want to try old rice, but I don't want to buy a lot. I hope I can get small bags, like 1kg or 2kg ones.
