Cicadas

Every day, I hear loud cicadas singing. Their singing feels overwhelming, but it makes me realize that summer has arrived. A few weeks ago, I read a news article saying that some foreigners in the Kanto area have been over harvesting cicada larvae for food. I also remember that one of my friends who used to live in Shikoku told me that she worked at a textile factory with people from China. She said they were very hard workers and very nice people, but they fried adult cicadas in a pan and ate them as snacks. Why would anyone eat cicadas?
