Social Dominance

Yesterday, one of my friends told us that she would have a new co-worker in her department. She wanted us to welcome this new hire to eat lunch with us from today. Of course, no one disagreed with her, but I was worried about other lunch members’ attitudes towards the newcomer. It was because some people act friendly, but say things to put themselves above. At the beginning of our lunch break, I was relieved that the conversation flowed smoothly in a warm atmosphere. However, it didn’t last long. When the new hire told us her previous job, one started showing off, saying her family member worked for a bigger company. I could say nothing but just hung my head.
