English Vinglish (Japanese title: Madam in New York)

This is a heartwarming comedy about a traditional Indian housewife. She is a good wife and mother, but because she doesn’t speak English well, her husband and daughter make fun of her and look down on her. One day, she goes to New York ahead of her family to help with her niece’s wedding. She decides to enroll in a language class in New York to learn English, but she keeps it a secret from her family. After she works hard to learn English with unique classmates, she delivers a wonderful speech in English at the wedding. In the end, she regains her self-confidence and earns the respect of her family.
