In Chinese-speaking countries, September 28 is Teacher's Day in honor of Confucius, the greatest Chinese sage and teacher.
One day, Confucius's carriage was going down a trail, but it was blocked by a kid who was building a model city with small stones.
Confucius got off the carriage, asking the kid why he didn't want to yield.
"Since time immemorial, it has always been carriages that give ways to the city, and not the other way around." the kid said.
Confucius found the kid was smart and want to take him on as his student.
So Confucius made a wager with the kid, saying the one who lost the bet would become the other's student.
"Do you know how many stars there are in the sky?"Confucius asked.
"There are a sky's worth of stars." the kid answered.
"Do you know the number of hairs in your eye brows?" the kid asked in returned.
Confucius was stumped by the questions and admitted that he lost the bet.
So Confucius made good on his promise, and then called the seven-year-old kid his teacher.
