After the collapse of state of Shu duing the three kingdoms period (220-265), the last king Liu Shan was placed under house arrest in the Luoyang of Wei state.
Instead of mourning the fall of his state, Liu Shan indulged himself in amusement every day.
One day, Sima Zhao held a banquet to entertain Liu Shan, and arranged a dancing and singing show from Shu with ulterior motive.
Liu Shan's entourages hung their heads, shed tears and felt ashamed after watching the show from their hometown.
On the contrary, Liu Shan burst out laughing.
"Don't you miss your hometown?" Sima Zhao asked.
"No, I feel comfortable living here. I am too happy to miss Shu." Liu Shan answered.
Upon hearing the remark, Wei's subjects all laughed at Liu Shan who was once a king of Shu state.
Because of this story, in Chinese-speaking countries, "Too happy to miss Shu" is used to describe someone who feels so comfortable that they forgot their origins.
