Pekingese

Pekingese originated in China. It is a kind of toy dog deeply beloved by ancient Chinese aristocrats. Ancient China didn't have native lions, and Pekingese's appearance looked like what a lion was depicted back then. So they also called it lion dog. In 1860, the second opium war broke out, and the Forbidden City was invaded by Anglo-French Allied Force. There were five Pekingeses wailing around their owner's body.
