My Newest Record; My Newest Pride

Last Saturday, on May 2, I managed to break an old record. If you did not know, I like to be an active person; that’s why I love cycling, running, and walking. Last Saturday, I put on the ambition of beating my previous walking record, and I did. What was my accomplishment? 110,000 steps in one single day. That’s right, for approximately 18 hours of walking continuously, I managed to make those many steps. How much does it mean in kilometers or miles? 75 km. For my American friends, that would be roughly 46 miles of walking. Isn’t it unbelievable? To me, who has had some impressive scores in the past, it’s not unbelievable. It’s the result of being careful what I eat and how I train, but for many people, it’s not something achievable, yet. What the Numbers Tell Us It tells me that I am an advanced walker. Why am I so confident? While I did not check stats about it, something tells me that more than half of the world's population cannot continuously walk for such long distances and periods of time. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if more than 80% of people wouldn’t be able to perform my task of walking so much. All I am sure of is that my cardiovascular health and mental health have improved. For that, I have asked ChatGPT, and he told me that walking such long distances dramatically improves mental and physical stamina, as well as cardiovascular health. The Aftermath However, there is a downside to my little adventure. As I am writing this text, four days have passed since I finished my walk and hit the sack. It’s a Thursday now, the fifth day after that long run, and I am still not completely recovered. There is a feeling of exhaustion lingering throughout the day. Of course, unlike Sunday, when I couldn’t properly get out of bed, now, I can do all sorts of activities. But even if I can run, drive, read, and write, my body is not yet fully recovered. In the last km of my walk, I couldn’t feel my legs. Now, I feel them, though they don’t move properly. During my walk, my mind couldn’t think of anything else other than walking; now, I have four different thoughts while writing this piece. The last thing that I want to mention here is that my Saturday walk really affected my sleep and my schedule. Not even today could I wake up at my target hour. Probably, in two or three days, my schedule will be rebalanced again. Will I Walk Like That Again? At this point, I am not sure. Of course, my mind is affected by my recent experience, so I may be very biased right now. As a rule, I do such a run once a year. My previous one was sometime in June 2025, so, if I were to have another powerwalk like this one, I will probably have it somewhere in early or late summer of 2027. T One issue is that, to attain this record, of 110,000 steps and 75 km walked, I had to walk until 12 pm. It took me a lot of time to reach the finish line. That makes me wonder if there is a chance to not reach a new record in 2027.
