    Two Weeks Without Sugar

My Honest Opinion On Quitting Sugar Cold Turkey   As I am writing this, on a Sunday morning, I have been sugar-free for two weeks. Although I have experience with avoiding sugar in the past—but unfortunately, I have relapsed—now, I am back to the basics, trying to beat my sugar addiction once again.   What can I say after these two weeks of not eating sugar? Read on to find out.   The Mind Alters the Body   Unlike my previous attempts to go sugar-free, this time I didn’t have withdrawal symptoms. I prepared mentally, found a person to hold me accountable, and went for it.   Surprisingly, I didn’t vomit this time. No muscle pain was present during the process, and I actually managed the transition quite well.   They say that the sugar is out of your system after day five. Well, in these first five days, unlike other times, I manifested quite well, i.e., I acted normal. The only unusual thing was that I consumed a lot of water. In the first two days, I had around ten liters of water daily. A large quantity for a single person!  Moral: with the right mindset, you can overcome addiction without suffering withdrawal symptoms. (In this regard, Allan Carr was right.)   Sugar Can Be the Main Cause of Heartburn   Do you suffer from a feeling of burning inside your esophagus? Most adults do. In this regard, you are not alone.  Still, your heartburn issues might be caused by eating too much of the bad foods, i.e., consuming too much sugar.   I’ve suffered for years from heartburn without understanding the cause. Now, for some time, I have known that a cause can be eating too much processed sugar. In the first week of no sugar, I can say that my insides have never felt better. The mild heartburn that I had been experiencing (thanks to overconsumption of sweets) was annihilated in fewer than five days.   Bloating Can Be Fixed Instantly   Also, processed sugar may be the reason why you always feel bloated. The same curse from which so many people suffer. In fact, too many people are bloated. (While you may not feel bloated, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t.)   Again, food can be the main cause of bloating, and kicking sugar out of your diet can heal that. I’ve stopped feeling bloated from day two. If you, too, feel bloated, get rid of the ultra-processed junk that you eat and call food. You might be surprised. I was! After only five days, my bloating disappeared.   No Sugar Means a Sharper Mind   You are what you eat. In this regard, sugar is chaos. Too many children today are diagnosed with ADHD because they are too hyper. They are like that because of the sugar they often consume.   We, as adults, are not that different. If you don’t believe me, see how sugar can affect your ability to focus. Actually, remove sugar from your diet and see how, quickly, your ability to focus increases.   After less than two weeks of not consuming the white powder, I have increased my ability to focus on a single task. If after ten minutes, my mind was easily distracted, now I can clearly go for 30 minutes without being interrupted. The sugar has a way with our minds, and you will be better off without it.   Good Energy Throughout the Day   Do you suffer from energy crashes? Do you just go through your day, and suddenly you feel the need to sleep? It’s the sugar crash. When you feel like that, you probably grab a candy bar or a pop to feel energized again. That’s how sugar addiction manifests in your daily life.   I want to tell you that after two weeks, your energy levels should regulate. What this means is that you won’t have any more sugar crashes throughout the day. You won’t feel the agitation that sugar gives you anymore (that you probably confuse for having energy), but you will have a stable mood throughout the day. This is important if you are a busy person that needs more order in your life.    Bottom Line   There are so many benefits that come with not consuming processed sugar. More energy throughout the day, a sharper mind, and a better body—in other words, a better life overall.   The question is, why do people relapse? It’s not just me. Many people have dealt with this problem. They quit sugar just to start consuming it again.   One possible explanation is that processed sugar acts like a drug. If you are not careful, you can go back to it in no time. That’s why you have to make a serious commitment to never consume it again.   However, one issue remains: sugar is everywhere. It is unavoidable. It’s not like smoking or drinking alcohol. You have to consume food.
