The elegant Japanese food names
Sometimes we can't figure out what the names in the menu truly mean in restaurants, because they are too elegant.
I will share with you that kinds of Japanese food names.

(1)Spring rains/春雨(Harusame)
The name reminds us of the fine threads of rain in the spring scenery.
However it actually refers to cellophane noodles which is thin and transparent.
(2) White water falls/白滝(shirataki)
This means noodles made from konjac, a kind of taro root. I guess this name comes from the fact that konjac noodles are more broad and we white compared with cellophane noodles.
(3)flying dragon head/飛龍頭(ひりょうず、ひりゅうず)
Do you feel how cool this name sounds?
Aside from the fact that this is just a fried tofu ball with mixed vegetables.

The name lets us imagine the autumn sky where wild gooses come to Japan and land in the field for rest.
In fact this word is pressed sweet mixture of grain flour and sugar.
(6)Chinese inkstick/唐墨(からすみ)
This is dried mullet roe pouch, known as bottarga in Italy.
Chinese ink sticks, as vital parts or calligraphy, have been traded with high prices and sometimes curved and decorated with gold leaf.
