Saudi food and my prejudice

Last Saturday I went to an event called Saudi Cultural Taste, which offered visitors Saudi Arabian foods.I ate Medeni rice (rice with chicken and sauce) and date pudding, then drank coffee, rose tea and mint tea. They offered approximately 20 kinds of food at a cheap price. Every menu I ate was delicious and delicate, it deserves to visit this event if it will be held next year. Besides selling their agricultural products like coffee beans and dates, there's a picture book and boardgame to explain their food cultural heritage. In fact, I looked down on Saudi Arabian culture in my heart, and thought that there was nothing prominent, but this experience changed my view. I was surprised that their culture and products are sophisticated and delicate. To excuse my prejudice, my previous impression party steamed from my Arabic teachers. Most of them were either from Egypt and Syria or Japanese who studied these areas, no Saudi Arabian or Saudi specialist. For instance, an Egyptian teacher has an experience of teaching Japanese in Saudi Arabia and told us that they are gender -biased and so male and female students were taught in separate classrooms, they're not educated and people without bachelor degrees instructed her. Another teacher told us that Saudi Arabia is an ideal place to learn Arabic only if you are a male Muslim. These expressions gave me a bad impression of this country, but maybe it is not a rare case that language teachers have prejudice against their people. For instance, a Chinese teacher from Beijing said that Shanghai people are capitalist pigs, another Chinese teacher has said that mamy Xi’an people are con artists. We students must be prepared and be aware of teacher's biases.
