Local Language

[h3]I am Shanghainese. I am used to speak Shanghai language.[/h3] [h3]When I was young, my neighbors spoke their native languages. because Shanghai is a city of immigrants. Not only can I understand what they say but I also enjoy their humorous local languages.[/h3] [h3]When I was in college, the teachers all taught in their own languages. [/h3] [h3]What was even more interesting was that the physics teacher spoke authentic Cantonese. In the first class, we couldn't understand what he said. [/h3] [h3]However, at that time, we all respected our teachers very much, and not a single person in the class said "I can't understand". [/h3] [h3]By the second class, we could already understand some professional words. [/h3] [h3]Later on, we could understand Cantonese completely, and even ask questions to the teacher in Shanghainese with a little Cantonese![/h3] [h3]It's a pity that nowadays children can't speak Shanghainese . [/h3] [h3]We have lost the humor of speaking local language.[/h3]

本地語言 我是上海人，我習慣說上海話。 我小的時候，我的鄰居們都是在說他們當地的語言。因為上海是一個移民的城市。我不僅能夠聽懂他們說的話，而且喜歡他們幽默的當地語言。 在我上大學的時候， 老師們都是用他們自己的語言講課。 更有趣的是，物理課的老師說的是地道的廣東話。第一堂課，我們都聽不懂。但是，那時的我們都非常尊重老師， 全班沒有一個人說“聽不懂”。 第二堂課的時候，我們已經能夠聽懂一些專業名詞。 以後我們就完全能夠聽懂廣東話了，甚至也能用上海話夾帶一些廣東話向老師提問。 很遺憾， 如今的孩子們卻不會說上海話了。我們失去了說本地話的幽默感。
