English and French

Someone said that English was a retarded language. Because vine, grape, raisin, vineyard, and wine are not inseparable from each other. Someone think that Chinese has more advantages than English. I just smile without saying anything. [cb]Chinese speakers don't know where these English words come from.[/cb] Grape and raisin are directly from Old French. Vine and wine are from Latin. In fact, very few people know that nearly 30% of vocabulary in modern English comes from French. English language is actually inseperable from French. The English-speaking world should be grateful to French.
