English
This is what I really think about Hong Kong.
Hong Kong still has a unique charm from the red taxis to the skyline.
But honestly it feels like a city past its prime and I mean that respectfully.
Many years ago, I traveled to Hong Kong with a tour group.
I had menus thrown at me, no please, not even a smile.
Hongkongers seem way more stressed out and way less patient.
They speak a mixture of Cantonese and English.
As a Taiwanese, I can't speak Cantonese.
People in HK generally don't smile to strangers and never say thank you.
Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas on Earth.
Large numbers of Hong Kongers have emigrated to Britain, Australia and Canada in recent years.
[cb]There has been a labour outflow since it was back to China.[/cb]
[cb]Hong Kong has a statue of Bruce Lee in honor of the KungFu superstar.[/cb]
I respect Hongkong's identity and history.
It's bold stylish and still iconic, a true mix of east and west.
But personally I prefer places where people are just a bit more polite, more peaceful, and far away from the chaos.
