The State of Florida

Florida is Spanish for [cb]"the land of flowers"[/cb]. Florida produces one-third of the world's orange juice. It's no wonder that Florida's state flower is the orange blossom. Row after row orange trees stretch to the horizon. It takes a special group of workers to make these trees grow fruit. When the fruit is finally ripe, it is time to start picking. Thousands of seasonal workers need to be hired to pick by hand. One reason Florida orange juice is so fresh is because the proximity of the processing plant to the orange trees. Oranges grow in Florida because they get enough sunshine to grow them nearly year round. However oranges are not native to Sunshine State, they originally came from China, carried in pockets by Spanish sailors in the 16th century. Florida is the gateway for hurricanes moving from the tropical ocean toward the North American continent. Florida was first targeted in October 2024. "Milton" was one of the most destructive hurricane in American history.
