On Lang-8, I had been posting about common Japanese errors, an interesting Japanese and a funny Japanese that I ran into.
I named it "Is Japanese so difficult? series" , and I posted 126 entries on Lang-8.
I'm going to post about it on this site.

Is Japanese really so difficult? (Part 127)
「~と伺(うかが)っております」
Have you heard of this phrase?
This phrase means "I hear" or "someone told me".
On an e-mail, my coworker in another branch sometimes write this phrase for what I did.
I told her "今日サンプルを送りました。別のサンプルは、A支店から届きます" on an e-mail.
(=Today, I'm going to send some samples to you, and A branch is going to send the others another day.)
After she received the sample that I sent, she sent an e-mail and told me "サンプル受け取りました。別のサンプルは後日届くと伺っております (I got the samples that you sent, and I heard that the others is going to arrive another day.)"
This phrase sounds strange in this case because this Japanese sentence says "someone except you told me.", but it's me that told her.
