Up until a point I had never thought about becoming a teacher, but since I started working in a school, this question has been increasingly on my mind.
I've always been excited about the evolution of learning and neuroscience throughout my life, and I'm also interested in the question of how different people think in different ways. I enjoy working with children and helping them learn, and teachers often say to me, "You're really good at working with children."
If you want to have a meaningful/impactful career, and you want to have the possibility of changing a child's life, it's a good goal I think.
But it's a difficult decision. In the UK, as time goes on, teachers are increasingly buried under piles of pointless work, and it's kind of largely become a thankless job.
