I was pretty obsessed with houseplants when I was in high school, but didn't have the space for them while I was at university. Since moving back to my parents house, I've decided to start a little herb garden.
Until now, I've faced two problems.
Firstly, even though mint can thrive under any conditions, basil is a little spoiled, so I feel like I'm constantly moving the planter around to find a good spot. I thought I had finally found the perfect spot, only to see my dog pee on my basil this morning. So i had probably better move it again.
My second problem is bugs. even though I put the planter high enough so that snails and slugs can't reach it. the flying bugs still hang around and bite the leaves. to resolve this, I've been finding spiders in the garden and placing them on the basil. They catch flying bugs in their webs, and to thank them for their hard work, I provide them a safe space to live.
