arrowhead: 镞(将箭头):看到我的照片. sharp: something that can cut like a knife, a pike, or a pointed tool. apiculate: used in botany to say a leaf has a sharp point at the tip of the leaf. pike: a tip of a spear that can be used in prehistoric battle. acircular: not a circle or circular shape; this term is also used in botany. 我只用英语来讨论打击乐器的箭头和球状物(这句话是机器翻译的)。 https://i.nyan-8.com/u/07400ec8/0hpyxy0.webp https://i.nyan-8.com/u/07400ec8/0y6zqys.webp

Prehistoric Archaeology: Fourth Blog Post, Arrowheads Google's translation software defines an arrowhead using these words in English: arrowhead, sharp, apiculate, pike, or acircular. However, arrowhead, sharp, apiculate, pike, and acircular have different meanings! Here's the English definitions: I often walk in the forest and find rock shelters, stone flakes, and arrowheads. Today, I'm going to post some photos of my arrowheads. I only use English to discuss the arrowheads and bulb of percussion. Making an arrowhead is time consuming if you have never done it before.  I have never made one but I've seen one being made. First, the source rock is hardened by heating it in a fire. This makes the rock easier to work or chip.   A hammer rock is used to hit the second rock; the arrowhead or tool comes from the second rock. Many chips are created as the person makes the arrowhead, so in the forest we can find many more chips than tools or arrowheads.  In the photos, I point out a bulb of percussion. I think the computer translation calls this a percussion instrument, but a percussion instrument is a musical instrument like a drum which you hit.  In this case percussion means one rock hits another.  When a chip comes off, a round shape is often formed called the bulb of percussion as shown in the one sharp tool in these photos that is not an arrowhead.  Look carefully and you can see each stone arrowhead was hit many times to take off small chips and make the point and edge sharp.
