我们的只比格犬(beagle, a breed of dog)九岁了。 但是狗狗领先了15分钟!(But the dog had a 15 minute head start) 我的别狗跟我一起。 https://i.nyan-8.com/u/07400ec8/0cqw27b.webp 当我追上她时,她已经精疲力竭 (exhausted) 地倒下了 (collapsed and fell on the ground)。 https://i.nyan-8.com/u/07400ec8/08lp4g8.webp https://i.nyan-8.com/u/07400ec8/1scx3ja.webp

I used Google Translate to write "狗的故事". But Google said, "狗狗的故事". Why use the word 狗 twice?  Yesterday, I went for a ride with our two dogs. The dogs love to go ride in the car and then go walk! They get excited if I even say the word "ride". They can even understand when I spell words. They get excited when I or my wife say "r-i-d-e" or "g-o." I drove to the park and we walked two kilometers. Our beagle is nine years old. She walks unsteadily and usually can't run fast. However, when we were at about as far from the truck as we could go, suddenly, the beagle smelled a wild white-tailed deer on the path. Every day, she walks unsteadily and struggles to run. But suddenly with the smell of deer, she could fly! She glided swiftly along the path! Soon, I couldn't see her anymore, but I heard her barking! She ran through the forest and off the trail. Here, I will write more that I did not write in Chinese!  The smaller dog needed water, so while the beagle was barking nearby, I walked her down to the river. At the same time, a fisherman arrived. He parked his truck between me and the beagle. He saw my dog. But I couldn't see it as he walked away to go fishing.  What I didn't know was that the beagle was on the path and when she saw the fisherman, she walked back the way we came toward my truck. I spent about 15 minutes looking for the beagle and finally walked down to the rifer again to find the fisherman. I asked him, "Have you seen my dog?" The fisherman said, "She went down that trail over there!" Then, I knew my dog was lost and just wanted to go home. She was walking alone but had a 15 minute head start! My other dog was with me and had never left my side.  I realized I need to run as fast as I could. The beagle would get tired, but she would run as fast as her little legs could carry her back to the truck!  She didn't want to be left in the woods alone. But I'm 74 years old, so I can't run very fast; so, me and the other small dog ran and walked as fast as we could, trying to catch up with the beagle. After 25 minutes, I saw the beagle out in grassland ahead of us. She couldn't hear me, so she was still hobbling towards the truck as fast as she could go.  When I caught up with her, she collapsed, exhausted. She lay on the ground panting, and it took her thirty minutes to be able to get up on her feet again. My dog walked only one meter, and then collapsed again. I waited another five minutes.  She walked two meters and laid down again. So, I waited ten minutes. This time, she walked about 30 meters but now I let her rest another 15 minutes.  Obviously, we were not going to go home very fast!  She slowly regained some strength. After walking 20 minutes, we found a puddle.  She stopped to drink and then laid down in the mud to cool off and rest. It was not a hot day, but she still needed to rest and pant. The little dog saw the truck 300 meters away and ran toward the truck. The beagle smelled a deer in the dirt again (we never saw a deer during the whole trip) and stopped to investigate. Finally, I decided to go to the truck, load the one dog, and drive back to get the beagle. In the car, our dogs need to rest.
